Today is the 4th anniversary of the tragic crash of EgyptAir 990 and the loss of my parents, Jerry and Caryl Welsh.
As it is Halloween and I have a six year old daughter, I am torn between mourning and celebrating. The mask I wear is one of happiness and excitement for the day, when inside I am so sad and still hurt very much.
This morning when I lit a candle in remembrance, my daughter asked me why I was doing that. This was the first time I told her that this was the day Nana and Grampie died. Although upset at first, she quickly was able to bounce back when I told her they would not want her to be sad, and they would want her to have as much fun as possible today.
I realize these are words I need to take to heart myself. It is still so hard. I think of Mom and Dad everyday. I love them and miss them horribly.
Please do not forget this was the day EgyptAir 990 went down.
