I read about ACCESS in the New York Times — a man my age had lost his father in the very same crash that Id lost my father on and was working with ACCESS. I called Heidi at ACCESS and she connected me to him. It was wonderful to be able to share our reactions and our experiences, even so many years after the airplane crash. We had real common ground, a common experience which satisfied a feeling of connection that I think people who have these unusual, awful experiences, often lack. I am thankful that ACCESS is available and that I can be a part of it. I have experienced the importance of knowing that we can survive. Yes, the tragedy affected our lives, but we have continued to grow and change and live¦we DO survive.
